St. Matthew Passion BWV 244

A church - photograph by Corel Inc.Once a year, St. Matthew's version of Christ's crucifixion is sung in the church. Bach made this text into a grand oratorio that includes solo arias, choruses and instrumental movements. The role of the disciple is carried out by a tenor, and other soloists play Jesus Christ, St. Peter, Judas and more.

Bach succeeds in acquiring the religious story, known to every practicing Christian, with a powerful spiritual dimension, but also an emotional and personal aspect, enabling the listener to identify with the beauty, even if he or she is not a member of the Christian conviction and faith.
