Intervals

The distance in pitch between two notes is called an Interval.

An interval can be heard while the notes are played together (we will call it Harmonic interval) or one after another (Melodic interval).

Listen to different intervals:

Unison - from C to C

Minor Second - from C to Db

Major Second - from C to D

Minor Third - from C to Eb

Major Third - from C to E

Fourth - from C to F

Tritone - Augmented Fourth / Diminished Fifth - from C to F# / to Gb

Fifth - from C to G

Minor Sixth - from C to Ab

Major Sixth - from C to A

Minor Seventh - from C to Bb

Major Seventh - from C to B

Octave - from C to next C

Minor Ninth - from C to Db in the next octave
