Miserere / Allegri

Miserere mei

In the past, this work was only performed in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. It combines Gregorian chant with rich, complex polyphony for about ten minutes. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart heard this piece as a boy, and wrote its entire score from memory. This event made the work famous outside the Catholic Church, and nowadays many people can enjoy this sacred music, as accompaniment to numerous television films and documentaries.
