Sibelius

Finland
Much like Norway, whose music was introduced to the world
by Grieg, Finland's popular prose owes its global
fame to Sibelius .
Yet unlike Grieg, Sibelius did not persist in using folk musical elements
in his works. And still, he excelled in a musical portrayal of Finland's
unique, endless, sad landscapes.
Sibelius created music based on
ancient Finnish myths, among which is his symphonic
poems
"Finlandia"
, a musical protest against Russia's
attempts to take over Finland, and "Tapiola".
