Brandenburg Concertos, BWV 1046-51

The Brandenburg Concertos were, in fact, written for the sake of accepting a position. Having met the Markgraf Christian Ludwig von-Brandenburg in 1719, who admired Bach's music, the latter decided to compose this series of concerti and dedicate them to the nobleman. He sent the score with a letter, insinuating his will to work for von-Brandenburg, but received no response.

The Markgraf, however, kept the score, and the concerti were preserved thanks to him. Except for the harpsichord accompaniment, every individual concerto is different in the ensemble for which Bach designated it. But they all have the same genius texture of polyphonic voices that made them the best in the Baroque, and Bach - the era's greatest composer.
