Villa-Lobos

Brazil
Composer Villa-Lobos
is the one who marked Brazil on the map of classical music. In
his works, especially "Bachianas Brasileiras",
he combined elements of Brazilian music with influences of Bach,
updating the ancient master and connecting it to the context and place
in which Villa-Lobos lives. Thanks to his own extensive activity and the
global prestige he won, art music in Brazil developed immensely, and he
founded the academy of music in this country.
Rhythms typical for Brazil, such as Samba
and Bossa Nova,
are some of the most fascinating ones, and they were also recognized by
jazz
music, that drew a lot of material from Latino-American
music in general and Brazilian music in particular.
